Implement Mental Health Education in California High Schools

Implement Mental Health Education in California High Schools
The Issue
Mental health is a critical aspect of overall well-being, yet many young adults lack the necessary knowledge and resources to understand and manage their mental health effectively. The mental health crisis among teenagers is a growing concern and according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year. Despite such alarming news, many high schools lack comprehensive mental health education programs. This petition calls for the implementation of mandatory mental health education in all California high schools to equip students with knowledge about common disorders, symptoms, and resources for help. By incorporating this into our curriculum, we can foster an environment that encourages open dialogue about mental health and reduces stigma surrounding these issues.
We urge education policymakers and school administrators to prioritize mental health education and allocate resources for the implementation of mental health curriculum in high schools.
Sign this petition to support better mental health education for our youth in California. Together, let's ensure that every young adult has the tools and resources they need to thrive mentally, emotionally, and academically.
