Implement Mandatory Tracking of Teacher Tenure in Georgia Public Schools

The Issue

My personal experience with Dekalb County School District has revealed a significant flaw in our education system. Despite my dedication and commitment to teaching, the district failed to notify me or the state about my tenure status, violating my due process rights. This incident is not an isolated one; it reflects a systemic issue that needs immediate attention.

In Georgia, teachers are granted tenure after signing their fourth contract, providing them with certain protections and rights. However, there is currently no requirement for schools to report this crucial milestone to the state or generate successive contracts automatically. This lack of transparency can lead to situations like mine where teachers' rights are unknowingly violated.  District officials shouldn't be able to bully teachers into leaving for nefarious reasons. Superintendent's shouldn't allow employees to lie to contracted employees.

According to data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), Georgia employs over 113,000 public school teachers. Without proper tracking mechanisms in place, thousands of educators could potentially face similar issues.

To rectify this situation and protect educators' rights across the state, we call upon Georgia's Department of Education and lawmakers to enforce a policy requiring all public schools in Georgia to file documents tracking every teacher signing their fourth contract with the state and automatically generating successive contracts.

By doing so, we can ensure transparency within our education system while protecting our dedicated educators from potential violations of their due process rights. Teachers that get hurt in service shouldn't be abused and harassed by school districts. Please sign this petition if you believe in fair treatment for all educators across Georgia.

New, career changers and all educators should be fully informed and interested about the importance as well as legality of their profession. The implications of this petition is essential to the profession and sustenance of every single educator in America and abroad. The due process framework was put in place to protect the profession and tyrannical practices should not be ignored and authorized within education. The children of tomorrow deserve the best education possible. Teachers have a vested interest in their licensing and contract rights.

Please sign this petition and support the cause. Every other profession begins with a teacher!
