As an ardent supporter of cat rescues, I've borne witness to the heartbreaking plight of countless stray cats occupying our streets and overpopulated shelters. These innocent creatures, victims of neglect and abandonment, are forced into a life of hardship and survival. Our rescue services are overwhelmed, and the injuries suffered by tomcats as they engage in aggressive fights for a female companion are both shocking and drastic.

We urgently need the government to implement mandatory spaying/neutering legislation for pet cats, save for registered breeders who would be required to apply for a specific breeding license. This proactive measure will regulate cat population, alleviate the burden on animal shelters, and mitigate the injuries caused by interspecies fights.  Spaying/neutering your cat can prevent numerous health and behavioral issues, including decreasing the risk of certain types of cancers and the likelihood of roaming in search of a mate.

Without the necessary legislation, our streets and shelters will continue to overflow with homeless and distressed cats, perpetuating a cycle of neglect and abandonment. We appeal to the government's spirit of compassion and justice to secure a better future for our feline companions.
