As a parent of multiple young children, I face a significant challenge when shopping as people and vehicles without the necessary need tend to use the parent and child parking spaces. These instances often involve work vans, fancy cars, or elderly individuals who misuse these critical spaces. It strikes at the heart of the problem, affecting not only my family but also countless other families who struggle with similar situations.

It's time for a change. We request our local governments and retail stores to introduce a permit or badge system for parent and child parking spaces. This implementation will add an enhanced layer of control, ensuring only those in genuine need, i.e., parents with young children, can access these spaces. Presently in the UK, misuse of disabled parking spaces, a similar personalized parking situation, results in a fine of up to £1,000. A permit system for parent and child parking spaces could work in the same way.
