The Issue

As a high school student, I often feel powerless in the face of global issues. However, one issue that deeply affects me is human trafficking - a form of modern-day slavery that continues to worsen each year. Thousands of children and adults are forcibly transported across borders, their lives irrevocably altered by this heinous crime.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) reports that almost every country in the world is affected by trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims. This makes it an urgent global issue requiring immediate attention.

One way we can combat this issue is by enhancing our national security measures at airports and borders. I propose mandatory training for all security officers on recognizing potential traffickers with their victims. This education could be instrumental in identifying and stopping these criminals before they cross our borders.

By equipping our security personnel with the knowledge to identify signs of human trafficking, we can create additional lines of defense against this crime. It's time to take proactive steps towards ending human trafficking once and for all.

Please sign this petition to show your support for mandatory human trafficking recognition training for all security officers at airports and border crossings.
