The Issue

Personal experiences, like that of myself trying to get in touch with HSBC for an issue with my debit card, reflect a widespread problem. After spending 35 frustrating minutes with an automated live chat system, I realized a straightforward 5-minute phone call could have effortlessly resolved the issue. I'm certainly not alone in facing these inconveniences. It's clear that modern service companies often make it incredibly challenging to reach a real human for assistance, driving customers toward automated systems that fall short in providing effective, humane help.

The issue goes beyond individual cases - the lack of easily accessible customer contact details on company websites is a systemic flaw that hinders efficient communication and problem-solving. Statistics indicate that as many as 75% of customers still prefer a human touch in customer services over automated systems (Customer Preferences for Live Assistance, Ameyo).

This is our call for change. We propose a requirement for all service companies to display contact telephone numbers prominently on their website homepages. This mandate will be a significant step forward in respecting and facilitating the customer's choice, enhancing satisfaction rates and saving precious time.
