The day my daughter Grace had her allergic reaction was the most frightening day of my life. One moment she was just my bright, happy little girl — and the next, we were fighting for her life. If it wasn’t for a kind stranger who had an EpiPen, I don’t know how that day would have ended.

Since that day, everything has changed. Our world now revolves around labels. We read every ingredient, every warning, every tiny line of text. This is the reality for countless families who live with life-threatening food allergies every day.

Yet, the current font size on packaging is often TOO small to read easily. This poses a significant risk.

Grandparents in particular find it very difficult, even with glasses, the allergens are written far too small.

While the Food and standards agency mandates that certain allergens be highlighted on product packaging, the fact remains that crucial information can be easily overlooked due to its small font size. A simple change in regulation to increase the font size could make a world of difference, potentially saving lives.

Larger fonts might seem like a small change, but for those of us who watch our loved ones suffer an allergic reaction, it means the world. It means peace of mind. It means safety.
