My name is Ilyas Qaadri a student at Fallon Middle School and an active member of the Muslim Student Union (MSU) and kashef qaadri's son. I, along with other Muslim students in the district, respect and follow dietary laws as a fundamental part of our faith. The restriction to only non-Halal meals unfairly limits our choices and, in essence, nudges us to compromise on our religious beliefs, which is something we wish we didn't have to confront each lunchtime. 

Considering the diversity embraced by Dublin Unified School District (DUSD), it is vital that the school lunch program becomes inclusive of all dietary restrictions. Provision of Halal meals will not just align with the district’s values but will also massively support the diverse student body. According to the Pew Research Center, Muslims make up about 26% of the Dublin population, a number that is on a constant rise. Addressing this concern will resonate with a significant number of Muslim students and families (source - Pew Research Center).

In order to make this long overdue change, we urge the DUSD to consider the addition of occasional Halal meals in school lunches. It is a matter of basic rights—access to diverse foods that respect and uphold our different cultural and religious values.
