Implement Firework Restrictions in Mississauga

Implement Firework Restrictions in Mississauga
The Issue
As a resident of Mississauga, the very loosely regulated use of fireworks in our city has grown increasingly disruptive and harmful, impacting both people and pets in our community. This issue is personal to many of us, recognizing the harm that results from unrestricted use.
Recurring incidents of fear among pets, sleep disruption among residents, and environmental impact through pollution of our air, call for an urgent change in the way we handle fireworks use. According to the Toronto Wildlife Centre, fireworks cause increased stress and disorientation in wildlife, leading to potential injuries and mortality. This is not just a social issue; it's about preserving our environment and the wellbeing of all local inhabitants, human and animal alike.
In addition, there is the safety issue of having fireworks set off in very close proximity to private residences posing risk of fire and other damage to personal property. Designated dates, times and locations of fireworks displays that are more reasonably enforced would be a way to create a more desirable community environment and increase residents reasonable enjoyment of their home and community.
Thus, it is recommended that the city of Mississauga impose restrictions on the use of fireworks. These rules should regulate the hours of use, designated days for display, and specific locations, to mitigate detrimental effects. By doing this, we take a step towards fostering a more peaceful and healthier environment for all residents.

Please, stand with us. Sign this petition and let's urge our local authorities to review and impose these much-needed firework restrictions.
