As an average American citizen, I am tired of the divisive politics that have become the norm in our country. The two-party system seems to be more focused on pitting Americans against each other rather than representing us. It feels like we are being ruled by an elite class who only represent their own interests. This is why I am calling for a change.

Congress members should not enjoy privileges that are not available to the people they represent. They should have the same health care as all Americans and their salary should be capped at $150,000 a year. Any raises must be approved by public vote.

Furthermore, term limits need to be implemented to prevent career politicians from dominating our political landscape for decades. A maximum of 8 years in office would ensure fresh perspectives and prevent stagnation.

Finally, we need representatives who reflect the average American citizen - not just those with wealth and power. According to data from the Center for Responsive Politics (2015), over half of Congress members had a net worth over one million dollars - this is far from representative of most Americans.
