My name is Anna, I’m a concerned local who has been working at Grand Central, Toowoomba City, QLD, for over four years. Recent occurrences (being screamed at, threatened, product being stolen) have brought me to the daunting realisation that there is a growing safety issue. More and more of our staff, many of whom are young and frightened, and shoppers alike are becoming victims of disruptive behaviors, particularly on Thursday and Saturday nights. The 'Eshays,' (youths) causing trouble, have been terrorising and intimidating anyone they can. 

In contrast to the peaceful past, the last year has seen an alarming spike in such vexing incidents. Young employees are terrified to complete out of store work related tasks or even shop alone. This situation should not be the norm for our community.

This raises an urgent need for heightened security precautions at Grand Central. We propose that additional safety measures be implemented and that security guards be empowered to take more assertive action in curbing such disruptions. By bolstering security presence and enabling them to address these issues promptly, we can bring back the peace and safety that has been long missed.

It is our obligation to ensure the safety of all members of our community, and the time to act is now. Stand with me in making Grand Central a haven for secure and unperturbed shopping and working environments once again.
