I am the mother of a beautiful 4 month old boy. Every single day, with him cradled lovingly in my arms, I witness heart-rending news stories about innocent children in our state being murdered, often by those who should be their protectors. This sad reality has motivated me to rise and petition for a stringent punishment against those who egregiously commit such horrifying acts.

I firmly believe that those who commit murder against children should be subjected to the death penalty. This is not out of retaliation, but from a desperate plea for justice, and more importantly, deterrence. Such a stern sanction could discourage potential offenders and definitively demonstrate that such heinous crimes are unacceptable in a civil society.

Statistics purported by the Department of Justice have shown that 450 children were murdered in the United States in 2019 alone. By making an example out of the perpetrators through capital punishment, we can project a strong message of zero tolerance towards child murder and potentially save lives.
