Cricket is not only a beloved sport; it is a passion for many young enthusiasts within our community. Unfortunately, children do not get many opportunities to flourish their love for cricket outside of non-school leagues. As the popularity of cricket continues to grow across the country, it is only fair to introduce cricket as a main sport for boys and girls athletics in the Frisco ISD Athletics Department in both middle school and high school.

The benefits are manifold. Other than being an excellent way to engage students physically, it also promotes teamwork, communication, and strategic thinking skills. Taking the example of countries like India, England, and Australia where cricket is a major sport in school athletics, we see the successful integration of cricket into their curriculum. Furthermore, the student population who are budding cricket enthusiasts deserve platforms within their schools to practice, play, and excel.

    This is about making a change that encourages inclusivity and diversity of sports in our educational institutions, and this starts with accepting cricket as a mainstream sport, acknowledging its rising popularity in America.
