Our family faced a devastating loss when my aunt, Sheila, was diagnosed with stage 4 leiomyosarcoma - a rare and aggressive cancer. She was a model patient who never missed her annual appointments. Despite this, her cancer slipped through the cracks of our current healthcare system. Her strength and resilience allowed her a precious three additional years with us. However, that wasn't enough. 

Sheila's unwavering spirit inspires this petition to advocate for a systematic revision to women's reproductive health checks. Current protocols are not enough. We request that the medical field deepens its focus on uterine health, conducting more rigorous testing to catch and treat uterine cancers in their early stages.

Cervical cancer was once one of the common cause of cancer death for women in the U.S, but now, it's considered highly preventable due to increased screening and early detection. These screenings have led to a significant decrease in mortality rates since the 1960s (source: American Cancer Society). We believe the same dedication to screening and early detection could significantly impact the detection and prevention of various uterine cancers.

This demand is not only for Sheila, who had hopes of advocating for others, but also for the countless women who, like her, are adhering to recommended guidelines and still facing diagnoses of aggressive, late-stage cancers.
