Implement Bilingual Measures in Wisconsin's Media for Global Adaptation

Implement Bilingual Measures in Wisconsin's Media for Global Adaptation
The Issue
I have always held a deep conviction that the symbols we share with the world harbor the capacity to unify us, not tear us apart. This not only applies to language but also to units of measurement which are an integral part of our communication, industry, and culture. This petition advocates for our Wisconsinite news outlets to present information in both imperial and metric units. As of the current moment, our media typically use imperial units, which although common in the US, are not universally recognized.
An overwhelming majority of the world uses the metric system, which is adopted by 95% of the global population (Fenn, 2019, The Metric-Mile Divide). Making this amendment would ease the understanding of global events and issues by Wisconsinites and enable us to operate more effectively on the world stage. That's not to mention the cross-cultural communication benefits it would yield.
Simultaneously, it is important to acknowledge that this does not mean abandoning the Imperial units completely. Maintaining dual communication would not only aid our adaptation to the metric system but also stay true to our American heritage.
Our world is almost overwhelmingly interconnected, and it is the small steps such as these that will allow us to adapt, understand, and contribute more significantly on a global basis. Therefore, I urge anyone who reads this to sign the petition. Let's take a step towards molding our society into a more inclusive, knowledgeable, and global citizenry.
