I'm a day behind on this, but I'd also argue it's still relevant.

According to new articles from DataBreaches,  Jeffco was given a time extension and a lowered price(now $2,000, which can easily be pulled from Jeffco's reserve budget).

What did the district do?

Nothing.

I'll say it again: The district continued to refuse to pay, and as of yet have not added any new features for security that we know of. The threat actor sent multiple emails regarding the breach to Jill Ibeck, Chief of Information for Jeffco Public Schools, which were apparently ignored.

It's true that the threat actors likely couldn't be trusted to delete our data, but at least if the district had paid, there's a chance that they would have.

Isn't that chance worth taking, Jeffco?

Guess not.

Students' private, highly sensitive, data is now being sold to the highest bidder, and there is no guarantee of what they will do with it.

It's now more critical than ever that we spread the word about this petition.

Jeffco, we are still open to meeting if you would be willing to show us, or the district as a whole, what(besides the mass password change) you're doing to strengthen security.
