As a concerned member of the Macduff community, I am deeply troubled by the lack of a traffic stopping crossing near our local Primary school. Despite being located on what is now a Busy Main road Macduff Primary School lacks a Safe Crossing for both the School Children & Pedestrians. This poses a significant risk to our school children, elderly citizens, disabled individuals and those with vision issues or hearing loss who are forced to navigate this dangerous crossing daily.

The increasing volume of traffic only exacerbates this issue. It is fantastic to see the building of the New Aldi Store underway unfortunately once it  opens this will only increase traffic around the School Zone. According to data from Transport Scotland, there has been an upward trend in road traffic volumes across Scotland over the past decade (Transport Scotland). This increase in vehicles coupled with inadequate pedestrian safety measures is a recipe for disaster.  
We cannot wait for tragedy to strike before we take action. We must prioritize the safety of our most vulnerable residents now. We call upon Aberdeenshire Council and local government officials to implement effective and immediate safe crossing measures at Macduff Primary School's main road location.
