We, the undersigned, support Jalen "J-Dub" Williams' proposal to introduce a second NBA Defensive Player of the Year award, one for big men and one for guards/forward defenders.

Just as the All-Star voting is divided into categories for forwards and guards, recognizing the distinct roles and contributions of these positions, it makes sense to split the Defensive Player of the Year award similarly. This would ensure that perimeter defenders, who often don't get the recognition they deserve due to the focus on blocks and rebounding stats typically associated with big men, are fairly acknowledged for their defensive prowess. This change would promote a more comprehensive appreciation of defensive skills across all positions in the NBA. Let's make defense a more celebrated aspect of the game by recognizing excellence in both interior and perimeter defense.
