It’s been a little while since my last update, but I have some really positive news to share with you all!

Firstly, WE HAVE REACHED 1,533 SIGNATURES! ❤️

I cannot thank everyone enough for signing, sharing and supporting this campaign. What started as one frustrated parent speaking out about the unacceptable cost of getting children to school is now gaining real momentum.

And more importantly, we are starting to see action!

Following growing concerns about school bus fares, Essex County Council has now given unanimous support to a motion exploring ways to make school transport more affordable.

I’ve been in contact with Councillor Russell Quirk, who has confirmed that the council will now spend the coming weeks analysing and evaluating potential solutions before presenting options for Cabinet approval.

These include:

🚌 Negotiating with private bus companies to secure lower fares for families.

💷 Introducing subsidies or fare caps to help protect parents from excessive costs.

🏫 Bringing school bus operations in-house, giving the council greater control over services and pricing.

And one thing Russell said really stood out to me:

“Staying ‘as is’ is not an option.”

Those are incredibly encouraging words for families who have been struggling with these costs for far too long.

However, I want to be clear — nothing has been agreed or implemented yet. There is still work to be done, and I will continue pushing for meaningful change rather than just promises.

🇬🇧 BUT THIS CAMPAIGN IS BIGGER THAN ESSEX!

While I am delighted that Essex County Council is taking this seriously, families across the UK are facing exactly the same problem.

A child’s ability to get to school affordably should not depend on their postcode or which private bus company operates their route.

That is why my petition continues to call on the Government to introduce a mandatory nationwide cap on school bus fares, ensuring that all operators are subject to fair and consistent rules.

We have made progress locally. Now we need to turn that momentum into national change.

🎯 OUR NEXT TARGET: 2,000 SIGNATURES!

We are just 467 signatures away!

If everyone who has already signed could encourage just one more person to add their name, we would smash that target.

Thank you again to everyone standing behind this campaign. Your signatures, shares and support really do matter.

1,533 voices and counting. We are being heard, but we are not finished yet! 🚌❤️
