🚌 PETITION UPDATE — WE ARE BEING HEARD!

There has been a major development in the campaign to make school bus travel more affordable.
Following concerns raised by hundreds of Essex residents, Essex County Council is now bringing a motion to Full Council on 13 October to explore options for tackling the escalating cost of school bus fares.
The options being considered include:
🔹 A maximum student fare
🔹 Negotiating better deals with bus operators
🔹 Greater council commissioning of school bus services
🔹 Even the possibility of an Essex County Council-owned bus company
And the post highlights a real example from West Horndon to St Martin’s School, where families can be paying up to £9 per day.
This is exactly why I started my petition.
School transport should not be allowed to become an unaffordable burden on families simply because there is no effective cap on what can be charged.
This is an important step forward in Essex, but my petition is calling for something much bigger: a nationwide cap on school bus fares, so families across the country are protected — not just those lucky enough to have their council take action.
