Working late nights at Belfast International Airport, I often find myself stranded city centre when my shift ends at midnight and I'm getting Airport bus in to city centre at 1 a.m and get stuck there because there's limited public transport options, and walking home from Belfast City Centre to Newtownabbey is exhausting and unsafe at those hours. Sadly, increased taxi fares, which can soar up to £25, make them an unsustainable option for regular use.

This is not just my struggle; many residents in Belfast and surrounding areas face similar challenges. We need a reliable, affordable, and safe 24-hour public transportation system that covers major routes in Northern Ireland, like the successful service to Belfast International Airport. Extending early hours bus operations would not only benefit night shift workers but also those socializing in Belfast, ensuring everyone can travel safely and efficiently.

Translink has the opportunity to improve community connectivity and provide a much-needed service. By introducing express and 24-hour bus services on critical routes, Translink would significantly enhance regional mobility.
