The United States was founded on the principles of democracy, the rule of law, and the separation of powers. These are principles that an authoritarian administration would systematically undermine. The following are reasons why Congress must act swiftly to draft new articles of impeachment. 

1. The Integrity of Elections Is at Stake

Free and fair elections are the foundation of American democracy. If a sitting president has openly bragged about manipulating voting machines to secure an electoral victory, that alone constitutes a grave assault on democratic institutions. Any interference in elections whether through fraud, coercion, or technical manipulation invalidates the legitimacy of the government and directly violates both the Help America Vote Act of 2002 and the Voting Rights Act. The president must be held accountable before future elections become meaningless exercises in authoritarian control.

2. The Abuse of Federal Funds Violates the Constitution

The executive branch does not have the power to unilaterally withhold or allocate federal funds without congressional approval. Article I, Section 9, Clause 7 of the U.S. Constitution explicitly states that “No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law. This principle ensures that spending decisions are made by elected representatives in Congress, not by a single individual. The president’s actions in withholding federal funds without authorization constitute a direct violation of separation of powers, making impeachment not just a political choice but a constitutional necessity.

3. The Attack on Birthright Citizenship Is Illegal and Unconstitutional

Birthright citizenship is enshrined in the 14th Amendment, which unequivocally states that “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.” No president has the unilateral authority to overturn a constitutional right. If the administration attempts to strip people of their citizenship through executive order or other means, it is committing a blatant violation of the Constitution, and Congress must act to stop it before fundamental rights are erased.

4. Undermining the Civil Service Is a Step Toward Authoritarian Rule

The federal civil service exists to ensure that government operates independently of political whims, staffed by professionals who serve the American people regardless of political party. By placing an unelected billionaire, Elon Musk, in charge of the entire federal workforce and demanding mass resignations, the administration is attempting to replace experienced professionals with political loyalists. This is a clear move toward consolidating unchecked power and one of the hallmarks of authoritarianism.

5. Congress Must Act Now: The People Demand Accountability

Impeachment exists precisely for situations like this. The impeachment power was designed to remove a president who abuses power, breaks laws, or threatens the republic. The charges here of admitted election tampering, unconstitutional withholding of funds, unlawful attempts to strip citizenship, and the dismantling of the federal workforce amounts to an orchestrated attempt to subvert democracy. If Congress does not act, it will be complicit in the destruction of the rule of law.

The American people must demand that our representatives uphold their oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. This is not about partisanship, it is about the survival of democracy. If we allow authoritarianism to take root, the freedoms we cherish today may not exist tomorrow.

Congress must draft articles of impeachment immediately and the people must rise in defense of their Republic.
