We are residents of Sri Mayapur Dham, and every day we witness the devastating impact of the rampant garbage dumping in our sacred area. The banks of the Holy Ganga, where spirituality and purity should reign supreme, are now tainted by waste. Over 1000 hotels, eateries, and tea stalls are illegally disposing of at least 20 tons of mixed waste daily (plus untreated sewage water). This is not just a stain on our landscape and Holy Rivers, but a direct threat to life and our sacred environment.

This waste ends up polluting the water we drink, the air we breathe, the soil we depend on, and the food we consume. It's heartbreaking to see a place that serves as an example of purity and spirituality for the world being degraded by human neglect. We bear the duty of protecting the sanctity of Sri Mayapur Dham, not only for the present inhabitants but for future generations and the global community and humankind seeking inspiration from our Holy Dham.

The most critical area at the banks of Ganga where this rampant dumping occurs belongs to ISKCON Mayapur, precisely at the entrance across from the Gopinath Gaudiya Math. The rainy season is taking the garbage inside Ganga risking the life inside Her!.

We urge the co-directors of ISKCON Mayapur to act decisively to remove the massive heaps of waste next and inside mother Ganga, using bulldozers and tractors and to transport them to the designated government landfill without delay.

Furthermore, we appeal to the Mayapur-Bamanpukur Panchayats I/II to enforce strict prohibition against garbage dumping in Mayapur Dham, specificallyat the banks of our holy rivers: Mother Ganga, and Jalangi (Saraswati). Implementing a regular service of garbage collection, and processing the waste properly. Legal measures and surveillance will deter offenders and preserve the divinity of this region.

Dumping untreated waste water in Holy Ganga and Jalangi Dham should also be prohibited 🚫 and punish. We urge the Government to install Biological eco-friendly water treatment plants along the Banks of Ganga, and Jalangi.

Our call to action is clear: Let us unite to restore the purity and sanctity of Sri Mayapur Dham. No effort is too small when it comes to protecting our sacred environment.
