The Issue
Justice for Michael Stanley Ewing – Immediate Independent
To continue pursuing truth and justice, we have established a GoFundMe to fund essential forensic testing, expert analysis, and investigative efforts that have not been pursued by authorities.(MICHAEL’S CASE IS STILL OPEN, even though his death was ruled a suicide nearly 3 months ago)
- Springville City has confirmed to our family that an Internal Administrative review is happening(instead of an INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION)
- Springville City has CONFIRMED They have had discussions with its insurance to discuss Exposure and Liability
We have continued to ask Springville City
- Is this case ONLY OPEN FOR “ADMINISTRATIVE PURPOSES?”
- Is Springville Pursuing any suspects or is this case still actively being investigated?
- We have also Ask Springville City will you close this case?

We are calling for the immediate removal of this case from the Springville City Police Department and the Springville City Administration due to systemic failures in handling domestic violence, child abuse, and the suspicious death of Michael Stanley Ewing.
Why This Is Urgent
Michael Stanley Ewing and his family were failed repeatedly by local authorities. Despite multiple reports and clear evidence of domestic violence and escalating danger:
Springville Police failed to properly investigate domestic violence incidents from 2018-2025.
-Officers mishandled a suspicious death investigation in July 2025
-Critical evidence was ignored or improperly handled by both police and the Office of the Medical Examiner
-Constitutional rights to pursuit of justice and equal protection were violated, constituting civil rights violations
-These repeated failures demonstrate serious issues with supervision, training, and accountability, directly linked to the Springville Police Chief.—
-We believe there is still enough evidence that may be able to prove what happened to Michael Stanley Ewing to cause his death.
- At the same time, as a family, we acknowledge that there is a possibility we may never be able to fully determine the truth. Should that occur, we hold that the Springville Police Department directly influenced this outcome by failing to conduct a thorough investigation, mishandling evidence, pressuring witnesses, and, for lack of a better term, making this situation appear as a suicide—despite acknowledged mistakes in person or over the phone that were never documented officially.
Timeline of Critical Failures
February 9, 2022 – Domestic Violence / Criminal Mischief
-Michael’s wife smashed Michael’s car multiple times, nearly hitting him.—
-Michael called 911
- 911 audio clearly proves domestic violence
-Wife was arrested and booked.
-no witness statements, other than Michael and his wife
-Charges reduced and dismissed at Michael’s insistence. Michael saved email chains between him and the fourth district prosecutor begging for mercy for his wife. I have those in my possession,
July 13–16, 2025 – Domestic Violence and Criminal Mischief—
-Three individuals reported domestic violence at Michael and His wife’s home to Springville Police on July 16, 2025.
-our family was told repeatedly by Springville police that they couldn’t press the charges for a crime that they knew was committed on July 13, 2025. The reason behind waiting to file charges was continually said that they didn’t want to have. It turned into double jeopardy if the July 13th case was connected to the July 14th case.
-I reported this incident in person on August 14 and asked for a case to be open.
-following up on this report on August 15 on the phone I was told that no such case report incident report or investigative report existed. . I had to re-report this incident and demand a case number before I got off the phone which I did.
-as of October 26. It was verified through a grammar request reply that charges for this July 13 case are in the prosecutors office at Springville city awaiting charges.
-No action was taken, and no neighbors were interviewed until August 22, 2025.
-Direct evidence provided by James Ewing was ignored. Audio recording, describing domestic disturbance in detail.
July 22, 2025 – Child Abuse Incident
-Following the July 13 incident, Michael’s wife committed child abuse against her juvenile child.
Could have been prevented if July 13 incident had been addressed.
She later pled guilty to an amended charge, likely receiving probation.she was able to attain this plea agreement, reducing four charges to one because she didn’t have a criminal history or a high threat level on the sentencing matrix
August 23, 2023 – Stabbing Incident
-Initially reported as “self-inflicted” by both Michael and his wife
-Michael collapsed his left lung. Although the reporting officer claims that Michael had NOT penetrated heart or lung.
-the same officer describes in his report that after talking to Michael and his wife, he determined no crime had been committed. Even though his report also states that another witness was available to interview that was in the home.
-According to the same reporting officer. There was no blood in Michael’s car after he searched it. And he stated that according to Micheal’s wife, there was no blood in the home.
-it’s also important to note that in this officers report, Michael’s wife didn’t know that he had “stabbed himself or even left the home. It also reports that when Michael’s wife “found out that Michael had “stabbed himself”. She was so anxious that she began cleaning the house.
******My opinion ONLY******
Would it be POSSIBLE that there was no blood in Michael’s home because michael’s wife had already cleaned it up???
-Michael recanted the hospital and police story, saying “my wife did this or my wife pretty much pushed the knife in“
-Stepchildren were present during the incident, confirmed in an audio recording by James Ewing.
-During and throughout the whole suspicious death investigation, we were told that Michael didn’t want to be a victim involving this stabbing incident in 2023 and that he wasn’t available to be a victim now.
July 14, 2025 – Suspicious Death Investigation
-Suspicious Person Report
Reported by back fence neighbor adjoining Copies Plus Printing. Timeframe of suspicious person report is between when body was discovered by family and police arrived on scene. Not documented in ME report; follow-up interview by Family, which is recorded on audio, revealed witnesses pressured into disbelieving their report and convinced that they were wrong.
Car Investigation
Mishandled: wrong make/model, critical evidence left in the car. Evidence, not documented in crime scene photos or narrative.
Eyewitness and Body Position Discrepancies
Michael K. and Daniel K. Ewing not properly interviewed. Actually not interviewed at all!
-Both of these family members describe seeing Micheal face down, head down full torso in front of the passenger seat with legs on top of the passenger seat and feet over the headrest of the passenger seat.
-springville police describe Micheal as being face up with his legs, sprawled between the two seat seats and one leg on the driver seat. The crime scene photos confirm this.
Michael’s body had 18 wounds. None of these, according to authorities, led to his death or would have caused his death. Yet they’re not given an explanation or cause?
Police/ME concluded suicide
Body position discrepancies were completely unknown, until James Ewing brought them to the city and Police Department’s attention.
Interviews
Witnesses pressured, incomplete interviews, lots of missing interviews
Medical Examiner Failures
Stomach contents not tested; dissolved pill material left in the car, never tested—
-No liver or heart testing, only infrared skin temperature after car left open 2–2.5 hours
-No X-rays, MRIs, or CT scans to investigate the 18 wounds
-ME relied on unlawfully obtained/irrelevant documents, ignored eyewitness discrepancies
-ME relied on incomplete and false information from Springville Police Department.Even after Family told them of the inconsistencies that were found. Both before the official death report and after it was finished..
Reports Made by James Ewing
Late July – Early August 2025: Reports submitted to:
Utah County Sheriff’s Office
Utah County Prosecutor’s Office
Utah State Bureau of Investigations (SBI)
Utah Attorney General’s Office
FBI (first report)
**November 21, 2025: Second FBI report:**
-James Ewing makes 45-minute phone statement to Salt Lake City Field office at the FBI.
-Follow-up call by on-duty field agent TO JAMES EWING 45 minutes later. Where it was determined to send it to the civil rights division at the Provo Field office for the FBI.
Systemic Issues
-Failure to follow domestic violence protocols
-Mishandling of crime scenes and evidence
-Ignoring witness reports and eyewitness testimony
-Lack of proper supervision and training, directly linked to the Chief of Police
-Violations of constitutional rights and civil rights
-Oversight of the Office of the Medical Examiner for proper procedures and testing
-Accountability for constitutional and civil rights violations—
-Michael Stanley Ewing’s death was preventable, and the failures of local authorities have caused irreparable harm to his family and the community. We demand transparency, accountability, and justice.
We continue to seek the truth, and we believe evidence still exists that may clarify what happened to Michael. At the same time, we recognize the possibility that we may never fully know the truth, due to the Springville Police Department’s mismanagement, pressure on witnesses, and premature conclusions, which have obscured critical facts and made this tragedy appear as a suicide.
