update from southwick’s zoo:
“ Hello Elias,
Thank you for getting in touch. We always appreciate anyone who reaches out with concerns about any of our animals. Our rabbits are rescues and are very well loved by our staff and visitors. The enclosure that guests may see our rabbits in is not their permanent home; they have a separate off-view enclosure that they spend most of their time in. This current rabbit enclosure and our welfare practices are up to USDA standards. However, we are actually in the process of updating their enclosure! Please rest assured that we are always working towards modernizing and expanding all of our animal enclosures, to best meet each animal's individual needs. We will, of course, take your notes into consideration as we update their enclosure to match the best practices for their species.
Thank you for advocating for our wonderful rabbits. We hope to see you at the zoo again soon! ”
