We call on our community leaders to act with immediacy in the creation of Anti-Hate and Anti-Oppression 

Grey Bruce Pride has continuously stated hatred is rising; not just towards our 2S-LGBTQQIAP+ Community, but to all of our community members marginalized by society, systems and institutions. 

We have had our Mosque and Synagogues vandalized in acts of targeted hate. Their community members face constant acts of discrimination locally. 

Our Indigenous Community Members, including our Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer People face constant racism and continue to live under systemic oppression. 

Our BIPOC Community Members face racialization and oppression in a community that is famously known as the final terminus on The Underground Railroad. 

Acts of hatred towards our 2S-LGBTQQIAP+ Community have become rampant, peaking at the recent pride flag burnings and Hate Mail Campaign for all community members in Owen Sound flying pride flags. 

Our neighbours to the south, in KW just had a Gender Studies Professor and two students stabbed in an act of hatred on the anniversary of Stonewall. 

Our communities DO NOT have a response to hatred protecting their constituents. 

Our marginalized community members keep speaking up and out but the power does not sit with us under the current system. We alone cannot protect ourselves from the hatred which surrounds us. 

The inaction towards those marginalized within our community has devastating impacts on individuals, children, families, along with the social fabric of our community within Grey Bruce.

Stand with us as we urge the call to all cities and municipalities within Grey Bruce to immediately implement Anti-Hate Response Policies and Procedures as well as proactive preventative measures against hate and oppression. 

Our communities need action. Immediately.
