Hello.

While IMAX may have gone ahead with presenting Runway's AI "film" festival, I don't think this is necessarily the end of the battle. Far from it.

Over the past few weeks, moviegoers have overwhelmingly turned out for films with a human touch - Weapons, Freakier Friday, The Bad Guys 2, Nobody 2, The Naked Gun, and even holdovers like F1, Fantastic 4 and Superman - many of them in formats other than IMAX and many with disclaimers urging their respective films not to be used to train generative AI models.

With each new human made smash hit, exhibitors and large format theater organizations alike could take heed that artificial intelligence is not the way forward - it's a means of going backward. No matter if it's a small, worn and well loved dollar theater in a outlet mall or a megaplex near big box retail - seeing a movie is seeing a movie, regardless of what format it's in, even if the expanded experiences of PLF screens do add to the immersion of exploring a new or old world on screen.

So, I'm keeping this petition up - and I urge you to continue spreading around and sharing it wherever you can. At this point, it doesn't hurt to tell the granddaddy of theatrical exhibition presentations that you won't step foot into their locations until they apologize - and resolve to never do anything this reckless ever again.

Nathan
