Please read the update from Councillor Steve Gribbon:
Good afternoon.
Some positive news regarding the situation at the aqueduct.
A Canal River Trust manager attended Marple Area Committee last night. He explained the problems they had faced regarding the movement of parked/abandoned vehicles and is aware this needs sorting.
All councillors offered support with the situation and a working group is being set up with how to stop fly tipping and remove vehicles permanently. He accepted my suggestion of removable bollards to block off where cars are dumped and is taking this away to be looked into.
We are going to keep in touch with CRT regrading this and I am hoping as a group we can be in a position to carry out removal of debris and vehicles as quickly as possible.
Kind regards and thank you for your patience.
Steve
