Have you considered putting in a submission to disagree with the proposed amendment to classify IGP-trained dogs as attack-trained dogs? If not, we have collated why you should object to the proposal. Here is a link to our article > https://dogtrainersaustralia.org/igp-dog-sport-is-not-attack-training
Anyone in the world can write an email to DEW.DogAndCatReform@sa.gov.au before Tuesday, June 11th to disagree with the proposal.
We all know IGP dog sport is not attack dog training, but some other points to consider:
- IGP does not pose a risk to public safety.
- IGP promotes animal welfare.
- IGP stands for responsible dog ownership.
- IGP contributes to a reduction in bite statistics (studies cited).
- IGP promotes responsible dog breeding practices.
- IGP contributes to purpose-bred dogs for the community (beyond Police Dogs and MWDs).
- IGP is dominated by female handlers.
Our article also includes some of the implications for dog owners and the dogs if this Bill is passed.
Please feel free to share the link with your friends and encourage them to stand united with the Australian IGP and dog trainers community to strongly oppose this proposal.
