Summary: Thousands of Facebook and Instagram users are having their accounts suspended by hackers. Facebook has no support in place to help these victims recover their accounts. These victims have years of memories erased and some of them lose thousands of dollars in business. This petition is to raise awareness about this issue and get Facebook to create a support process for victims of hackers to recover their accounts. If you’re one of the thousands of Facebook/Instagram users who has had their account permanently disabled after it was hacked, then this petition should really strike a nerve. On the 11th of October 2022, someone in Vietnam had hacked into my Facebook account (which had a VERY STRONG password and 2FA installed). This was weird because I didn’t even click an unknown link, which is how most of these hacks happen. Within about 10 minutes, the hacker posted four inappropriate videos on my page - which got it suspended - and tried to access the credit card on my Facebook ads account. Thankfully, my bank was able to stop and void the transactions. A lot of other victims were not so lucky, as you'll see in this post. 

 

 

 

My Facebook is linked to my Instagram, so both accounts were suspended. I was asked to send a picture of my ID, which I did the next day. Almost immediately, I got this message from Facebook: 

 

I went online to search for their support line so I could talk to someone and get this sorted out, but the world’s largest social media company literally has NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT for its users. I was shocked. I run a recording studio and virtually all of my work comes from clients who find me on Instagram. I was scheduling sessions with 4 clients via Instagram when this hack happened. I’ve been a Facebook/Instagram user for well over 13 years now with no violations on their platform. Plus, why would they ask for my ID if they don’t even have staff to verify my identity? 

 

It turns out that my case is not even an isolated one. Just take a look at this subreddit . These hackers have targeted thousands of users who, like me, have a card linked to their ad manager account. After gaining access to your account, they post HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE content on your page to get it disabled by Facebook. With your account suspended, the hackers know that Facebook has no customer service, so they gain access to your credit card and go on a spending spree. Imagine having years of memories erased and your financial security compromised at the same time!
