~ :~ Sadly I'm yet another person who has lost a parent through the utter incompetence and lack of care at the hands of our local hospital. On August 26 my mum passed away with pneumonia in the most horrendous way possible as she already had terminal lung cancer. She's fought 4 different cancers over the last 7 years and we always knew it would get her 'one day'. I simply cannot accept the fact though that she was admitted to hospital with what they described as a "recoverable" condition but they categorically failed her at every single level. The senior doctor and nurse on the first ward she was admitted to actually apologised to me on the 2nd day for the level of care that she was "not" getting". Palliative care support was useless too & I rang my local hospice 4 hours before my mum died - distraught and desperate - begging with them to send someone over to help ease her pain and suffering as the hospital weren't prescribing the right drugs. They couldn't do anything though and suggested I ring the Palliative Care team at the hospital. I told them I'd already done that but their answerphone message stated they were only there during office hours. So... You're stuffed if you're dying of cancer in the middle of the night then?! At one point, my mum sat up in bed and grabbed my arms, Saying "help me please". It was utterly horrific and I told the hospital that I wouldn't have let a beloved pet suffer the way they let my mum suffer. Please share the petition so all humanity has the chance to sign ~ Get this reality debated
