The goal of this petition is to allow Idaho athletes to compete in as full of a season as possible, continuing into summer months if needed. Many sports had already started their seasons and were cut short due to the COVID-19 outbreak. As a community, the main goal should be to stay healthy and do everything necessary to end this pandemic. Sports give us a way to stay healthy and unite as a community. Cancelling the Spring season would hand COVID-19 a major win.

As of right now, IDHSAA has just "suspended" Idaho spring sports and the future is unknown.  IDHSAA is meeting on March 31st, to determine next steps for Idaho athletes. We don't want the Spring season cancelled, and we want IDHSAA to consider extending spring sports so that  Idaho athletes have a chance to compete.

This extension would allow student athletes the opportunity to finish out their high school sports careers. Many athletes have scholarships on the line and can not afford to lose the opportunities this season could provide.

Many athletes have trained many years, just for the love of sport. For many student athletes, athletics give them a sense of purpose, pride and community. For seniors, this is their last chance to compete for their high school, with their teammates, in front of their community. Please give them, and other student athletes the opportunity to do what they love.
