Emerson Colindres did everything right.

He studied hard. He stayed out of trouble. He graduated high school with big dreams and a bright future. But just days after graduation, he was handcuffed and deported—ripped away from the only home he’s known since he was 8 years old.

Why? Because he showed up to a routine ICE check-in.

This is not safety. This is cruelty. Emerson has no criminal record. He was a beloved student, an outstanding athlete, and a leader in his Cincinnati community. His teachers, classmates, and soccer coach are devastated. One moment he was celebrating his future. The next, he was gone.

ICE says it’s targeting “criminals.” But Emerson wasn’t one. And he’s not alone. Across the country, law-abiding teenagers, kids who’ve lived here most of their lives, are being detained and deported.

We cannot stay silent while our friends, classmates, and neighbors are taken like this.

We demand the Department of Homeland Security and ICE bring Emerson home now and stop targeting immigrant youth who have done nothing wrong.

This is about more than policy. This is about human lives. Real families. Real futures.
