Indiana University is holding a virtual event for ICE/Customs and Border Protection called "Help Defend the Homeland". This expo is to be held virtually on February 18th with aims to recruit students for "mission-critical" positions with ICE. Students enroll at IU to gain an education and the skills to pursue meaningful careers, and IU facilitating this event makes a mockery of this.

Recent events have shown us that ICE agents are not above profiling and brutally murdering innocent people, and welcoming ICE onto Indiana University's campuses, whether in person or virtual, will put students, staff, and the surrounding communities at risk. 

As a student at IU Northwest, I see the concern that my fellow students have. Students fear for themselves and the safety of their families, and welcoming ICE to IU is a disrespect to the students and families paying tuition to fund IU.

As students, staff, alumni, and concerned community members, we must hold Indiana University accountable and demand that they keep ICE out off of our campuses!
