紛争の影響を受けた人々の痛みを忘れることはできません。人々、とりわけ女性や子どもに対する残虐な犯罪が無視され、不処罰となる状況を座視するわけにはいきません。
国際刑事裁判所（ICC）は、国際法を維持し、戦争犯罪やジェノサイド、人道に対する罪、侵略犯罪を犯した加害者を追及するために極めて重要な役割を担っています。この重要な機関の働きが、いかに世界の平和と正義に寄与しているかは計り知れません。
しかし、米トランプ政権はICC検察官や裁判官に対する制裁を発動し、2026年8月18日にはついに、ICCの赤根所長を制裁対象に加えました。これは、ICCの独立性を深刻に脅かしICCの活動そのものを著しく阻害する極めて不当な行動です。
このような行為は、国際社会全体が長年にわたり築いてきた正義と法の支配を弱体化させるものであり、強く抗議せざるを得ません。もしICCが機能を停止すれば、どんな深刻な人道犯罪が犯されても誰も責任を問われない社会が到来する可能性があります。
私たちはトランプ政権による制裁に強く抗議し、制裁の即時撤回を求めます。
さらに、ICC職員等に対する制裁を認めた大統領令は国際司法への不当な介入であり、その撤回を強く求めます。ICCの独立性と国際法の支配は、いかなる国家によっても損なわれてはなりません。
日本政府が国際法と人権の守護者であり続けるためには、この不正に対して断固たる姿勢を示さなければなりません。国際社会の一員、そしてICC締約国として、ICCを支持し続け、正義の旗手としての役割を果たし続けるべきです。日本政府が赤根所長を支持することを鮮明にし、赤根所長が円滑に職務を全うできるようあらゆる具体的な支援をするべきです。
そして、米国に対して、赤根所長に対する制裁措置を即時に撤回させるよう働きかけ、ICCの独立性を守るための実質的な行動をとることを求めます。
この問題は、正義を求める私たち全てに関わるものです。国際社会における法の支配を維持し、未来の世代に平和で公正な世界を残すために、共に行動を起こしましょう。皆さんの声を集め、この状況を改善するために署名をお願いします。

We cannot forget the suffering of people affected by conflict. We cannot stand by while heinous crimes against people, especially women and children, are ignored and those responsible enjoy impunity.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) plays a vital role in upholding international law and holding perpetrators accountable for war crimes, genocide, crimes against humanity, and the crime of aggression. The contribution of this important institution to global peace and justice is immeasurable.
However, the Trump administration has imposed sanctions on ICC prosecutors and judges, and on August 18, 2026, it went so far as to add ICC President Akane to its sanctions list. This is an extremely unjust action that seriously threatens the independence of the ICC and significantly obstructs its work.
Such actions undermine the principles of justice and the rule of law that the international community has spent decades building, and we must strongly protest them. If the ICC is prevented from functioning effectively, there is a real danger that even the gravest humanitarian crimes will go unpunished and that no one will be held accountable.
We strongly condemn the sanctions imposed by the Trump administration and call for their immediate withdrawal.
Furthermore, the Executive Order authorizing sanctions against ICC officials constitutes an unjustified interference with international justice, and we strongly call for its repeal. The independence of the ICC and the rule of international law must not be undermined by any state under any circumstances.
If the Government of Japan is to remain a defender of international law and human rights, it must take a firm stand against this injustice. As a member of the international community and a State Party to the ICC, Japan should continue to support the Court and fulfill its role as a champion of justice. The Japanese government should clearly express its support for President Akane and provide all possible practical assistance to ensure that she can carry out her duties without obstruction.
Furthermore, we urge the Japanese government to press the United States to immediately rescind the sanctions against President Akane and to take meaningful action to protect the independence of the ICC.
This issue concerns all of us who believe in justice. In order to uphold the rule of law in the international community and leave a peaceful and just world to future generations, let us act together. We ask for your signature and support to help improve this situation and ensure that the principles of justice prevail.
