The Issue

Please support me! I have been bullied by the residents for more than 2 years. Isolated, bullied, and harassed, and it's in Brighton and Hove!

I am sharing my experience to call attention to ongoing harassment, discrimination, victimisation, and deliberate property damage I have faced as a resident of The Pinnacle in Hove. Despite raising concerns, I have been excluded and ignored, while the people responsible have not been held accountable.

These issues are not just private disputes — they affect my safety, wellbeing, and rights as a resident. They also highlight the responsibility of the building’s management and freeholder to ensure all residents are treated fairly, safely, and with respect.

1. Verbal Abuse and Harassment by Residents
Resident A: Shouted racial slurs and offensive remarks at me. This constitutes clear racial harassment and created a hostile environment.
Resident B: Repeatedly shouted personal insults at me outside my front door, with no apology despite my attempts to address it.
Resident C: Shouted at me outside the building, and when I tried to discuss it, the situation escalated with unrelated complaints. My reports were dismissed, and I was unfairly accused of wrongdoing for speaking up.
Resident D: Repeatedly provoked me with remarks intended to anger or humiliate, criticized my efforts to raise awareness, and encouraged others to exclude or mock me.

2. Removal from the WhatsApp Group

After reporting harassment, I was removed from the residents' WhatsApp group — the main platform for building updates, meetings, and community communication. This exclusion punished me for speaking up, isolated me from essential information, and constitutes victimisation.

When I attempted to discuss this exclusion with the administrators to understand their reasons, they refused to engage in dialogue or provide any explanation. This lack of accountability demonstrates their unwillingness to resolve issues fairly.

Evidence:
- Screenshots showing my removal immediately after reporting discrimination
- WhatsApp group rules explicitly stating the purpose is "to discuss matters relating to the building" — confirming it is an official communication channel, not merely a private social group
- False reasons given for my removal
- Other residents mocking my reports of racism with laughing emojis
- Timeline proving removal was retaliatory, not rule-based

This is the evidence that I was removed from the group, because I raised a concern about racial abuse.

This is the evidence that the admin refused to talk because he was eating lunch.

3. Refusal of Mediation

Police recommended free mediation to resolve these conflicts, but all WhatsApp administrators refused to participate or engage. Their refusal shows a clear failure to resolve disputes in a fair and lawful manner.

4. WhatsApp Group as a Public Residents’ Forum
The WhatsApp group is regularly used for:

Maintenance and building repairs
Freehold and property management issues
Invitations to residents’ meetings
Voting on community decisions
As such, the group is a public forum for residents. Excluding someone from it denies them essential participation in the community.

 5. Exclusion from Residents’ Meetings
I have been excluded from residents’ meetings despite previously being invited. I believe this is related to my racial background. All residents deserve equal access to participate in community decisions.

6. Deliberate Damage to Vehicle

My vehicle was deliberately damaged multiple times while parked at The Pinnacle. Independent confirmation established that the damage was intentional and caused by a third party. These incidents appear to be retaliation linked to the ongoing harassment.

Damage Summary:
- November 2024 (First Incident): Two tyres punctured. Kwik-Fit repair
- November 2024 (Second Incident): All four tyres punctured. Kwik-Fit repair
- Additional Damage: Exhaust system damaged (unable to repair economically)

- All incidents occurred at The Pinnacle parking area
- Only accessible regularly by residents
- Pattern of escalating damage (2 tyres → 4 tyres → exhaust) within weeks
- Same vehicle targeted repeatedly
- You possess CCTV evidence but have refused to provide it

What I Am Asking For

I am calling for:

1. A formal mediation session with the WhatsApp administrators and a neutral third party.
2. Reinstatement to the WhatsApp group, or an equivalent communication channel, without conditions.
3. A formal acknowledgment of past misconduct and a commitment to uphold the Equality Act 2010.
4. Compensation for the deliberate damage to my vehicle and associated losses.
5. Full inclusion in all future residents' meetings and community discussions without discrimination.

-Update Highlights-

I Reported Racial Harassment. I Was Removed 23 Minutes Later.

15 Mar 2026

Legal proceedings are now being carefully and methodically prepared. Every piece of evidence has been documented. Every timeline has been verified. Every false statement made against me can be disproven.

Before I share the full update, I want to say one thing clearly — as an Asian woman.

I will not accept racial slurs. I will not accept being randomly shouted at by a neighbour emerging from her balcony. I will not accept being cut off from all communication because I objected to that treatment. I will not accept being excluded from opinion polls, denied building updates, and shut out of the community I pay to be part of.

None of this is acceptable. None of this should happen to anyone.

And to the directors of The Pinnacle Freehold Ltd who have chosen to exaggerate and spread damaging rumours about what I said: I said nothing wrong. I stated a fact — that I pay my mortgage alone. That is not an insult. That is not a threat. That is not a reason to mobilise against me.

What I said was true. What you did in response was not.

I have faced this because I am Asian. And I will not be quiet about that.

After being removed from the residents' WhatsApp group, I lost all means of communicating with my neighbours. With no other option, I exercised my legal right to write a letter to residents.

In that letter, I expressed a simple frustration: I pay my mortgage alone, while others share costs between two people — yet some felt entitled to direct racial slurs at me and shout 'silly cow' at me. I asked why.

I was later told by a director that this letter was the reason I had been removed from the WhatsApp group. This is false. The letter was written after my removal — it cannot have been the reason for it. The actual reason was that I had reported racial harassment. That report — a legally protected act — was the real trigger. The attempt to reframe my removal is not a misunderstanding. It is a deliberate misrepresentation — and the facts can be proven by timestamps.

Let me be clear about what actually happened. A resident directed a racial slur at me. I reported it. Twenty-three minutes later, I was removed from the residents' group. I have been told that pointing out this injustice somehow justifies years of exclusion, vehicle damage, mail theft, and psychological harm. There is no justification. There is only a group of people who needed a story to tell — to protect themselves. Not one of their explanations holds up against the documentary evidence.

There is an assumption, still common in this country, that Asian people should be grateful to be here — that they came seeking a better life, and should therefore accept being treated as lesser. I did not come to the UK because life in Japan was worse. Japan has the fourth largest economy in the world — ahead of the United Kingdom. I came as an equal. What I have experienced is the consequence of that assumption being wrong — and of certain people being unable to accept that an Asian woman will not stay silent, will not apologise, and will not go away.

Let me be clear about what I did that apparently justifies all of this. I reported racial harassment. I wrote a letter asking why I was being treated with contempt. I refused to stay silent. I demanded to be treated as an equal. That is the complete list of things I did.

One administrator told me directly: 'Everyone is angry because you demand respect.' She said this as though it were a reasonable explanation. As though demanding respect were a provocation. It is not. It is the most basic human right. The anger is not my problem. It is theirs. And it will not silence me.

I am still here. I will not be forced to stay silent.

I am now formally initiating legal proceedings. I will be updating this page as the case develops. The truth will be on record.

If you have experienced similar treatment — as a resident, as a tenant, as anyone who has been silenced for demanding basic respect — please sign and share this petition. You are not alone.
