We, the undersigned, stand with Chief Jason Bonace and respectfully ask Penn Hills officials to ensure that he receives a fair, impartial, and transparent process to the fullest extent permitted by law before any final decision is made.

Chief Bonace has worked to bring the Police Department and the community it serves closer together. Under his leadership, community engagement has not simply been something discussed, it has been made a visible part of policing in Penn Hills. He has made a deliberate effort to get officers out into the community, strengthen relationships with residents, families, children, businesses, and community organizations, and create opportunities for people to know the men and women behind the badge.

Just as importantly, Chief Bonace has worked to bring the community into the conversation. He has emphasized accessibility, communication, transparency, and relationships built before a crisis occurs. He has sought to make residents feel that their Police Department belongs to their community and that their voices, concerns, experiences, and ideas matter. For many of us, that kind of connection between a Police Department and the people it serves is worth protecting.

Our signatures are our individual voices as residents, taxpayers, business owners, parents, neighbors, and supporters of this community. They reflect our appreciation for Chief Bonace’s service, our confidence in the direction he has worked to take community policing in Penn Hills, and our belief that the relationships built between a Police Department and its community matter.

Chief Bonace has worked to give this community a greater voice in its Police Department. Today, we are choosing to use that voice.  We Stand With Chief Bonace.  We stand for our community. We stand for fairness. We stand for due process. And we stand for a process the entire Penn Hills community can trust.
