Residents and concerned citizens of Ha'ena/Wainiha are strongly opposed to a cell tower and communications facility in our community. We believe that this development will be a commercial use that is inappropriate for a rural neighborhood, and will have a negative impact on our community, culture, historic roadway, property values and quality of life.

The proposed location for this facility is on a residential lot in a rural neighborhood directly adjacent to residents' homes. The proposed development includes a 125 foot tall cell tower, (12) 8 foot panel antennas, (36) remote radio units, a 33’ x 30’ fenced-in telecommunication compound and a building housing a diesel generator and misc equipment. All of this located approximately 50' feet from a neighbor’s home. 

We urge decision-makers to reconsider their plans for a cell tower and communications facility in our community. Instead they should consider alternative solutions such as raising the height of the existing Princeville cell tower and utilizing satellite-based communication systems which do not require new developments that are unwanted, inappropriate and disrespectful to our community.
