Stop Culling, Let's Get TNRM Implemented and an Animal Sanctuary Established in Kuantan
The Issue
1) Recently, Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan (MBK) has issued fines (RM 500 each dog) to owners who have not applied for a dog license or have raised more than two dogs and lead to many dog abandoned by their owners.
2) At Kuantan, lot of defenseless puppies and kittens abandoned and cruelly abused. These cases often happen.
(Eleven puppies abandoned, followed by 6 more barely a week old. And a 2 months old puppy has been chopped off his left foreleg.)
3) As animal lovers and advocates of animal rights, we do not agree with the act of culling by MBK, especially healthy docile stray animals that did no harm people but exist as one of God’s beautiful creation. Furthermore, they didn’t choose the life of a stray, but were either dumped by humans to begin with, that led to newborns being added to the population, this after being thrown away.
4) There are always have better and more effective solutions to solving the stray problem in a more humane, non cruel and non-lethal way.
To ensure that this does not turn into a bigger problem in the near future, we would like to propose a program that can easily cut down the stray dog population by half in the next 10 years. We would like to propose the TNRM (Trap, Neuter, Release/Rehome and Manage) program, whereby instead of killing these animals by the masses, the local councils instead bring the strays to the nearest panel veterinarian to spay, nurse and release the animals. Not only will this reduce the stray dog population by 50%, but it will also greatly reduce overpopulation on the streets and soon enough, they can also be cared for by people or shelters around them.
This also ensures that any leftover resources that people have enough to cater to the remaining stray dog population as it reduces competition for food, water and a place to stay.
5) If you’d like to support the TNR campaign and help give these doggos a better life, please sign the petition! we look forward to getting more than 1,000 KUANTAN PEOPLE to support this petition's initiative before we hand them over to the relevant parties.
Only with your help by signing this petition, maybe the state government will agree to our appeal for an animal sanctuary and kick off our TNRM policy in Kuantan. To those who are signing, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and thank you for being a guardian to the stray furs.
