Adding Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity as Protected Classes in Huntsville AL

The Issue

Adding LGBTQ people as a protected class, as it relates to housing, public accommodation, and employment, will help attract people and businesses to Huntsville AL. As of now, there are no such protections. LGBTQ people and their families can be refused a mortgage or rental agreement; be refused a hotel or motel room; be refused to be seated at a restaurant; refused employment or fired, all for their sexual orientation or gender identity. All of these actions can be done legally everywhere in Alabama, with the exceptions of Birmingham and Montevallo. These protections need to be done at a local level. If you live, work, or "play" in Huntsville, please sign!
