Chief Robert Handy recently retired as Police Chief of Huntington Beach. Deputy Chief Kelly Rodriguez has stepped in as interim Chief while the process begins to replace Chief Handy.

Huntington Beach now stands proudly along with Laguna Beach as the only two cities in Orange County to have a woman Chief of Police....

Chief Rodriguez has served our city proudly over the years.  She is well respected within the Police Department by the rank and file along with the public.
We request City officials persuade Chief Rodriguez to stay long enough to get the department back to normal and insure a PROPER TRANSITION including a valid candidate search...and not a hand picked HBPOA ringer.

Chief Rodriguez understands where the problems are and is strong enough to bring all sides together to rebuild a solid Police Department.   Handing over a department wrought with political discord to a new unaware Chief would be a disservice to us all.
