THE BLOOD OF AUSTRALIAN SHEEP AND CATTLE IS RUNNING THROUGH THE STREETS DURING THE 'FESTIVAL OF SACRIFICE' IN THE MIDDLE EAST. EVEN WHEN IT ENDS IT WILL NEVER BE OVER FOR ANIMALS. THE AUSTRALIAN VETERINARY ASSOCIATION MUST OPPOSE THIS TRADE.

THE BLOOD OF AUSTRALIAN SHEEP & CATTLE IS RUNNING THROUGH THE STREETS DURING THE 'FESTIVAL OF SACRIFICE' IN THE MIDDLE EAST. EVEN WHEN IT ENDS THE BRUTALITY WILL CONTINUE FOR ANIMALS. DESPITE THIS THE AUSTRALIAN VET/CATTLE ASSOCIATIONS WILL NOT OPPOSE THIS TRADE..
Right now the heat is soaring up to 50 plus degrees in the Middle East. For Australian sheep and cattle who survived the horrific journey to the Middle East they now face an unimaginable death during the 'festival of sacrifice'. Why isn't the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) being a strong voice for Australian animals destined for the live export trade? How can such an Association sit back and do nothing for the same animals it gave an oath to protect? The Australian Cattle Veterinarians Association doesn't covertly support the trade as the AVA does, it openly supports the live cattle export trade.
THE AUSTRALIAN CATTLE VETERINARIANS ASSOCIATIONS POSITION ON THE LIVE CATTLE TRADE:
The Australian Cattle Veterinarians Association is a sub-section of the Australian Veterinary Association and reports on the welfare of sheep and cattle.

Australian Cattle Veterinary Association President, Dr Enoch Bergman publicly stated that the association supports the live cattle trade and added that, 'If Australia were to be removed from that conversation those cattle would be sourced elsewhere'...Dr Enoch Bergman says there is on going support from his organisation for the live cattle trade to continue.
VETERINARIANS OATH
"Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine,
I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills
for the benefit of society
through the protection of animal health,
the relief of animal suffering,
the conservation of livestock resources,
the promotion of public health
and the advancement of medical knowledge.
I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity
and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics.
I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement
of my professional knowledge and competence”
It would appear this oath means very little when it comes to protecting animals destined for the live export trade.
