Humanity for the homeless-dont ban our right to live
The Issue
The homeless community is being forced to move out of their homes many times without sufficient notice to locate another place to move. Which is causing their belongings to be thrown away and destroyed by the workers the city sends out or stolen by others of the homeless community leaving them with little to nothing afterward. The land is being excavated/bulldozed and left looking more trashed/dirty than it did while they were living there. The resources that are provided are not applicable/available to everyone due to eligibility requirements/household sizes and needs. With the latest camping bans they have nowhere else to move too. The repercussions of the latest no camping ban intels a $200 fine or up to 90 days in jail left at the officers discretion.
If things continue in this manner or worsen many individuals will be arrested or gaining a criminal record for simply sleeping/living. Others will lose their ability to continue seeking employment or education due to being consistently uprooted/incarcerated. Which is extremely difficult as it is to seek employment/education due to not having a stable address. Many individuals become reluctant to speak to or trust homeless facilities/advocates. This is because we are simply handed a list of resources and when contacting such resources we are told that there are no available beds except for medical emergencies and the waitlist is 50+ long and then our information is taken and to be contacted later then ending up not being contacted. Some will whined up choosing to hide/fade away from the public even more than they already have been as to avoid feeling ridiculed, shamed or harrassed by the public. We are looked upon as being not even worthy of the dirt under their shoes. However need I remind you all that it is said "one bad apple can ruin the whole bunch" meaning one person can give the entire group a bad name.
Now is the time to act based on the newly imposed homeless camping ban. Left with no other options available we must come together and stand up for the right to choose our own way of life without criminal repercussions or substantial personal losses. Let our ideas be heard for a better more sufficient community program. (Please see comments as to what we are seeking) A.W.O.L. (All Walks Of Life) We all had lives before, we all have had and lost things and yet we all have ended up in the same place.
