Statement of Solidarity with Iranian People

Statement of Solidarity with Iranian People
The issue
Based on our principles of upholding human rights and expressing solidarity, we support the present sustained wave of protests of the Iranian People to achieve their basic democratic and economic rights. Millions of Iranian People and Iranian workers are living below the poverty line.
The most important economic and financial institutions are in the hands of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) or its associated that exert maximum pressure and repression on the workers and plunder these national assets.
We support the women and men, students as well as teachers who are political prisoners, jailed under intolerable conditions, because they are demanding change. We call for their unconditional release.
We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all prisoners arrested during the wave of protests since December 27, 2017 especially those who have been arrested in new wave of protests due to increase in petrol price since Friday 15 November 2019.
We emphasize that so long as this corrupt and medieval regime remained in power, poverty, high prices, unemployment, corruption, repression, and discrimination would continue.
We call on the United Nations and all international human rights organizations to strongly condemn the crackdown on the demonstrations and assign a delegation to investigate the situation of those killed and wounded during this uprising. More than 1,500 protesters were killed, 4,000 injured and over 12,000 have been arrested during November 2019 uprising.
We also call upon all of people who uphold human rights anywhere in the world to join this declaration of solidarity with the Iranian People, and in whatever way they can to assist them and to support their rightful demands.
