The men and women employed by Sheriff Christopher Farber are in need of the support of the residents of Herkimer County.  These hardworking individuals, who perform the thankless task of guarding the worst members of society are repeatedly subjected to abuse and mistreatment by Sheriff Farber.  In addition to gross mismanagement by Sheriff Farber our members have also been sent out in the public without bulletproof vests, have been discriminated and retaliated against, transport violent felons alone as well as running the jail shorthanded to name a few.  The base wage for a Sheriff's Deputy is approximately $15 per hour.

Recently the union has reached impasse in negotiations.  The county has offered a .23 cent raise and proposed to take away family health insurance.  At the same time Sheriff Farber was given a raise of approximately $5000 per year or  $2.50 per hour. 

The county and Sheriff Farber do not listen to their employees but they HAVE TO answer to you, the taxpayer.  Please show your support by signing this petition and help our members make a change.
