Unfortunately, the update for the HTC One S will not be arriving via a traditional over-the-air (OTA) update. Instead, users will have to manually download an install the custom ROM for their phone.
Now, I know some of you may be disappointed by this decision, but I encourage you to think about the bigger picture here;
The One S HAS received poor update coverage, no doubt about it, BUT, here's the thing to remember. The Android 4.2.2 update is also going to be the last official update for the One X family of phones.
So, anyone with the One X, XL or X+ will be out of luck for an official 4.3 update, exactly like the One S. And if the One X flagship is dropped, the One S would be too, for sure.
What does this mean? Custom ROMs will be required for any future versions, anyway, regardless of what phone you have from the 2012 One series!
