After all this time I have now made one more attempt to communicate with the Commonwealth Games Federation. For all the archers in the Commonwealth let us see to it that they become triumphant ambassadors of minority sports. In the years that I have running this campaign I have found many different angles to sell the sport to the CGF and to all other people. One of those is to use it as a means to brighten up communities and attract conservation groups to use archery to make understand the value of culture and identity. By selling in this way to my connections in politics they have been able to see the value in archery for the Commonwealth.
Today I took my petition to my friends in the Conservative party and given it to councillor Keith Prince AM to pass onto Karen Bradley MP, the sports minister. With this connection I can use it to pass onto the members of the CGF. If I am lucky I may also have the support of the head of the Commonwealth, Her Majesty the Queen. I wrote to her about my campaign and she replied with hope that the Commonwealth Games will hear my case.
If I am successful in getting my campaign heard by the CGF committee and executive board then maybe we will have a chance of the proposal being considered. But it's not just archery that needs to upgraded to core status, we also need to think about the future. In my research I also had to look at selling archery in order to get people to appreciate the beauty of minority sports. I can't upload the report here, but if anyone from the archery media would want to hear my story then I can write for their publication.
For the time being I will have to wait for a response from the sports minister. We will have to put our trust in government intervention and collaboration with the CWG.
