As a seasoned activist with 60 years of personal experience in advocating for drug laws reform, and as a youth worker delivering more than 4,000 drug education workshops to children and young people across Scotland, I am raising this petition. As a direct result of this work I have personally interacted with roughly 56,000 children and young people, aiding in the development of award-winning drug education materials.

Besides educating, I have also given support to hundreds of children and young people, struggling with addictions and mental health issues.

Nevertheless, there's more to be done. The rise of disposable single-use vapes significantly escalates the risks amongst children and young people.

These products, although seemingly harmless, contain high levels of nicotine, contributing to a new generation of nicotine addicts.

As the Health Minister, Wes Streeting, has the responsibility and power to put a stop to this. We need to stop the sale of disposable single-use vapes to mitigate the damage being done to younger generations' health and wellbeing. Let us strive for a healthier future for our children and young people.

I wrote to Wes Streeting offering my advice on the essential actions our government must take if it is to stop in its tracks the latest child drug trend.

Wes Streeting has not replied.

Here is what I advised:

We must urgently completely ban disposable single-use vapes. They have no place in reducing nicotine addiction in anyone. 

We must reduce to the absolute minimum who can legally sell all e-cigarettes and vapes.

We cannot trust specialist vaping shops to support those seeking to quit their nicotine addiction.  

We must not allow the vaping industry to continue masquerading as experts in smoking cessation.

We need to acknowledge that it is the highly addictive stimulant drug Nicotine that has trapped billions of people in smoking, which then exposed them the thousands of other substances in cigarettes that caused 50% of them to die early.

The mafia’s drug barons, are successfully using children as Drug Mules to undermine the efforts of the police to reduce the amount of drugs available in every community in the land.  The vaping industry has adopted that very same, successful marketing approach, by using children as Nicotine Mules 

The government must urgently research how we are going to support around one million children in the UK who are already addicted to nicotine from vaping alone.  

There should  no place for the vaping industry attending the parliamentary committees responsible for the new legislation. They will misuse what the hear to undermine plans to ban vapes.
