How Many More Failures Before RapidKL and Prasarana Finally Take Public Safety Seriously?

How Many More Failures Before RapidKL and Prasarana Finally Take Public Safety Seriously?

The Issue

Enough is enough.

Malaysians are tired of being told to stay patient while the rail system keeps failing the very people who depend on it every single day. Repeated breakdowns, repeated disruptions, repeated safety scares, repeated excuses — and still the public is expected to carry on as if this is normal.

It is not normal.

It is not normal for commuters to keep hearing about technical faults, manual operations, withdrawn trains, communication failures, brake-related issues, and serious rail incidents in such a short span of time. It is not normal for people to board public transport with growing anxiety instead of basic confidence that the system is being run safely and competently.

This is no longer just about inconvenience. This is about public trust collapsing in real time. It is about a public transport system that millions rely on, while those in charge continue to offer vague reassurances instead of urgent transparency, visible accountability, and meaningful corrective action.

The public should not have to wait for an even worse incident before serious action is taken.

We demand that Rapid KL and Prasarana:

  1. Publish an initial investigation update within 7 days of any major safety incident.
  2. Publish a full investigation report and corrective action plan within 30 days.
  3. Conduct and disclose a network-wide safety audit on similar critical assets, including track switches, braking-related systems, communications systems, and train control equipment.
  4. Release regular public data on major service disruptions, manual operations, train withdrawals, brake failures, communication failures, and other safety-related incidents.
  5. Provide a clear, time-bound plan to restore safety, reliability, and public confidence.

Passengers are not asking for miracles. We are asking for the absolute minimum: safety, honesty, competence, and accountability.

If Rapid KL and Prasarana still fail to provide transparency, urgency, and measurable action, then the responsible top management must step down.

Sign this petition if you believe Malaysians deserve better than silence, excuses, and a rail system that keeps asking for trust while giving the public fewer and fewer reasons to believe in it.
