I will be delivering petition comments to the Mayor and City Council tomorrow morning at the Public Comments session. The good news is I got a phone call from Gary Norman of the Public Works Department and we spoke at length about the lighting. He is not in charge of lighting, but agreed to get my concerns to the proper person who will be in the office on Thursday. He asked for areas to see the lighting and I gave him some blocks for the pedestrian and homeowner experience as well as a stretch of Braeswood for the driving experience, reminding him that it is worse for short drivers who can't screen everything out with the visor. He also asked for information about Davis, CA and the letter sent to Council and the Mayor from James Benya who helped Davis change their lighting. I also sent the New York Times essay and the follow up letter from an official who helped plan New York's LED installation and who agrees that criteria need to be changed and that warmer LED colors need to be looked at now. He also knows that I will be bringing your comments to the City Council meeting tomorrow and he will introduce himself. I don't know if anything will change yet, but for now we are being heard. Below is the New York Times letter that backs us up.
